We packed our gear, leaving a bag behind at the hotel as we are coming back on Sunday, but as we set off the bike was running very poorly. Went out of town to see if it would “self-repair”, stopped to fill up fuel and we sat down for a coffee, trying to think and plan. What could it be? Well it sounded similar to Marks bike when it was running without any power, and that was a disconnected sparkplug lead. And 3 of the 4 plugs on this bike are impossible to reach unless you dismantle tank and radiator! Ok let’s try the one sparkplug I can reach. 5 minutes later and a new plug, it was running fine. Back to ‘kech to the bike rental place Loc2Roues where I bought 2 new sparkplugs for spare!
Over the High Atlas we stopped a number of times, including a shopping stop at the most narrow ridge finding some crystals and our first souvenir together! I swapped my dirty old Swedish cap for some colourful bowls!
Some hours and a few hundred corners later, we made it to the Bikers Home with a warm welcome from Peter and Zineb. There we met a Portuguese couple, Rui and Suzanne travelling around Morocco with their 3 kids in a Landcruiser. Rui had been on his motorcycle through Morocco 7 times before, so now it was the family’s turn to get a glimpse. Gino from Holland was recuperating after hurting his knee whilst lifting his heavily laden GS1200 Adventure up. All nice and friendly people!
