We left Ouarzazate 10-'ish' to travel to Zagora, moving from the Mediterranean climate to the Saharan. The temperature began to climb and all the bikes seemed to be behaving themselves. Sand started to be blown across the roads and face scarves became the order of the day. In the middle of nowhere a local flagged us down as his car had broken down; Mike gave him a ride into Agdz, where he took us into his house for a thank you mint tea. This soon became a sales pitch, as trinkets, general Berber carpets etc. etc. came flowing out of his sales room. We bought some stuff and he fed us a rather nice chicken tagine... One hell of a way to get customers!
Moving on we passed through some valleys lined with palms, date sellers (fruit rather than blind). Sand blowing across the road became common place, whipping our faces and delicate limbs, threatening to sand blast our boyish features away.
Arriving at the Sahara Sky (hotel) we rode through deeper sand for the time, mmmm.... tricky, this is going to be interesting. Oh well the hotel had cold beer... Somethings in life are just perfect. The hotel is run by Helmut, nice bloke.
